Chem Alert 3 is the new and improved version of Chem Alert. It allows for faster additions of chemicals as well as:

  • A Risk Module for managing Risk Assessments;
  • Automated Product Updates;
  • Region Specific Product details and Reports;
  • Links to many resources

    What is Chem Alert?

    Chem Alert 3 is an online program available to all UWA staff, students and visitors that allows management of chemicals via the intranet. The program allows efficient electronic:

    • maintenance of chemical inventories
    • retrieval of current MSDS
    • label printing for hazardous substances and dangerous goods
    • management of storage and segregation of dangerous goods

    It is also a necessary tool for assisting in development and completion of

    • Chemical Risk Assessments
    • Annual Chemical Audits
    • Emergency Protocols
    • Waste Disposal Protocols
    • Chemical Safety Training
    IT Requirements

    Chem Alert is accessible to UWA IPs.

    Please ensure that your browser has cookies and pop-ups enabled.

    If you experience any problems using Chem Alert please contact the Chem Alert Administrator.

    Windows Client Requirements

    • Microsoft Windows (2000, XP or 2003)
    • Internet Explorer 6.x or Mozilla Firefox 1.5
    • Adobe Reader 6 or higher

    Macintosh Client Requirements

    • MacOS X or higher
    • Mozilla Firefox 1.5

     

    Chem Alert can be accessed by clicking here. Access is available to anyone with access to the University intranet. A UWA account is not required to retrieve MSDS and safety information. General users and Group Supervisors require a username and password.

    General Users and Group Supervisors

    These users require training and a user account with a username and password. This is available once you have attended a Chem Alert Training Course through your School System Administrator. Email them the following information:

    • name and research group
    • requested password
    • building, floor and room numbers of chemical storage areas (i.e. Labs, Workshops, etc) you require access to
    • role (General User or Group Supervisor)

    Chem Alert training is a requirement for School System Administrators and Group Supervisors. Training is available through Safety and Health. You can request training in your School or Area by contacting your System Administrator. Course dates are available here.
