Laser Safety Course
About: |
For staff and students who are required to use high-powered research lasers. This half day course will provide users with an awareness of the specific hazards associated with high-powered laser usage within the University research environment. It is a requirement under the Radiation Safety Act 1975 that licensed users of laser equipment have attended an appropriate laser safety course and that their supervised users are appropriately trained. |
Scope: |
You will:
- gain an understanding of the safe use of lasers in research
- be able to identify and assess risks in laser areas
- become aware of legislative requirements for the use of lasers
- understand the process of reducing risks in the workplace.
