About: If You Were A Car Would You Be a Hot Rod or a Clapped Out Bomb? You have your car serviced regularly so what about doing the same for your body? You should conduct regular preventive maintenance to make sure your machine is firing on all cylinders. Scope: Pit Stop was developed as a men’s public health program, by the Gascoyne Public Health Unit. As men regularly take an interest in their cars, and the ongoing maintenance of them, the idea behind Pit Stop is to attach this concept of regular mechanical tune-ups to their own health. It is run as a series of stations, each involving a quick, simple health check. The environment of the Pit Stop stations is non-medical, and therefore a comfortable and fun setting that allows participants to overcome any apprehension that they may have about going to a doctor, or presenting with a specific problem. The Pit Stop stations provide participants with a measure of their general health and information needed to address any health issues and any information provided is a guide only and does not constitute medical advice. Duration: It is possible to have multiple people assessed at one time. Allow 20 minutes per person. Date: 26th October 2007 9 am – 12 midday. Location: Recreation Centre front desk (testing will be conducted on the mezzanine level 1) Cost: Pit Stop is only available for UWA staff. No Cost to UWA employees.
