Safety, Health and Wellbeing

USC minor works

Our role is to develop and assist in the implementation of the UWA safety, health and wellbeing programs in order to minimise the risk of injury, illness and property damage.

We provide consultancy and other services to promote best practice and legislative compliance in all University and related activities.

The University Safety Committee (USC) minor works funds are allocated annually from central minor work allocations and provide assistance in expediting safety-related improvement within or for the University.

These funds:

  • May be used for minor infrastructure, landscaping, fittings, signage, furniture and equipment.
  • Priority will be given to works required by changes to legislation.
  • Are not to be used for replacing like-for-like equipment. Work areas are required to make provisions for the replacement of equipment over the life of the equipment.
  • Must comply with Campus Management requirements on providing a safe workplace
  • are generally provided on a 50 per cent cost share with the work area.
  • Requests for less than $2,000 may be approved by the Associate Director, Safety, Health and Wellbeing and reported at the next USC meeting. Requests for greater than $2,000 are required to be presented to the USC.
