Health and  Wellbeing

UWA has recently launched a new health and wellbeing web site which provides information, service details, useful links and self-help strategies to promote positive health and wellbeing in the workplace. The site contains the following:

  • Calendar of Events
  • Physical Activity
  • Nutrition
  • Psychological Health
  • Life Balance

Most sections contain a short statement followed by sub sections on relevant Information (to learn more), Services (many of which are available right here at UWA) and Useful Links (with more web links to further resources). Please use this resource to review your own lifestyle patterns, compare these with well researched recommendations / guidelines and make the necessary changes now rather than later. Cancer Risk Calculator – On Line

If we all made a few life smart changes, we could reduce cancer deaths in our community by an estimated 50 percent. The NSW Cancer Council has an on line cancer questionnaire which takes about 20 minutes to take the leap to better health and wellbeing. Take the life smart challenge now.

You can do the questionnaire on line to determine your risk factors. See: http://lifesmart.cancercouncil.com.au

Emergency Contacts - After Hours

All areas are reminded that it is imperative that all displayed Emergency contact information (e.g. on laboratories and hazardous installations) and also the UWA Security After Hours contact lists be kept up to date and for such persons to be readily contactable if required. In a recent incident both after hours contacts could not be reached, compromising a timely and proper response to the incident.
