UWA Electrical Safety Frequently Asked Questions

What can we do about public visitors and students using library facilities ?

A supply of UWA Electrical safety pamphlets and posters need to be made available to communicate to visitors their responsibility to carry out a visual inspection of their electrical items. Equipment bought into Libraries will normally be a laptop ac adaptor so the ac adaptor case needs to be checked for physical integrity. The laptop runs off low voltage (15V DC) from the ac adaptor so is exempt from testing or tagging. It will not be practical for library staff to tag visitors electrical equipment but our aim is to ensure a safe working environment, and that can be achieved by visitors and students carrying out visual inspections on their electrical items.
