Health and Safety Representative training

Our role is to develop and assist in the implementation of the UWA safety, health and wellbeing programs in order to minimise the risk of injury, illness and property damage.

We provide consultancy and other services to promote best practice and legislative compliance in all University and related activities.

Newly nominated/elected Health and Safety Representatives are required to complete an introductory five-day Health and Safety Representative Course within one year if they have not already completed such a course.

Your workplace is required to release you on pay to attend the course and pay the course fee. Only WorkSafe accredited providers may offer this training.

The purpose of the course is to provide occupational health and safety training to ensure that Health and Safety Representatives are able to exercise their powers and rights effectively. It provides them with the appropriate skills, knowledge and confidence to effectively represent co-workers by participation in improvements to health and safety in the workplace.
