UWA COVID-19 Awareness Induction Training

Before returning to campus, staff and HDR Students must complete the UWA COVID-19 Awareness and Induction. If you have already resumed working on campus/site, you should complete the induction (a short video which will help you stay safe). Managers will ensure completion and clarify any queries.

Research online Application Portal (ROAP) - Biosafety Office

UWA’s Research Online Application Portal (ROAP) is now open.
All staff, students and UWA affiliated adjuncts can access the system by using your Pheme credentials in the login box.
Please submit your OGTR (Exempt Dealing and NLRD) and Biohazard applications via ROAP https://roap.uwa.edu.au

Chemical Corner - What's in a name? - Dr Laurton McGurk

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. A rose without a name? Beware of the thorns….
A chemical without a name? A bottle without a label? Risks? Hazards? Storage? No name – we know nothing. When we have no idea what’s in there we are forced to assume it’s very nasty….mostly it’s not but it takes time to work and money to establish this.
The only time you can legally have an unlabelled chemical in a laboratory is if it will be used immediately, will not be left unattended and the container will be immediately disposed of or cleaned once emptied.
In the lab nameless flowers aren’t sweet; stop and label the roses.
